Mr & Mrs Johnson.

Mr & Mrs Johnson were council tenants and had unsecured debts of £25,000, which were all solely in Mr Johnson's name. Finding the £600 per month was not a problem until Mrs Johnson was made redundant and they were left with only £130 per month to pay their creditors. Having tried to offer the £130 equally over their 6 creditors, they found that only two would accept, leaving four creditors threatening immediate legal action.

Mr Johnson did not wish to go bankrupt as one day he wanted to run his own business and eventually buy his own home.

Mrs Johnson was actively seeking employment but was not initially very successful. She was quite adamant that she would eventually get a new job, and so we advised that a temporary debt management programme would be the best course of action until Mrs Johnson had found a new job, after which we would place Mr Johnson into an IVA.

It finally took four months for Mrs Johnson to find employment and we were able to arrange an IVA for Mr Johnson at the rate of £295 per month, he will be totally debt-free within 5 years.
